Hi there, I’m Chris.
I picked up design when I was a little kid back in 1997. I wanted to make some websites for my favorite television shows so I started Yahoo’ing all the HTML things I could find. Two years later, my parents got me my own web server and domain so I could pursue this hobby. In 1999, I had one of the largest websites for that television show. In 2006, I got my first “professional” design job.
My background is rooted in data visualization and experience design. I’ve spent years working with a variety of data sets from small to unfathomably large with the mission to make data work for the user. Most of my current experience has been around leading and building design teams, building partnerships with other leaders, coaching and mentoring, and setting organizational process and strategy for experience quality and team happiness. I have a heavy focus on balancing and managing the needs of the business and the needs of my team without compromising quality.
Currently
My role at Capital One has taken many shapes over the years. Early on, I focused on designing data experience products across different lines of business. In 2019, I led a successful team on the delivery of an Investor Relations data product, winning a Circle of Excellence award (described as the “highest internal honor associates can receive”).
Currently, I lead two design portfolios: Internal Audit and Finance. I prioritize building deep partnerships with Product, Tech, and Business to co-create a joint vision of the future and lead a talented group of designers along that journey. We are focused on transforming our internal associate experiences by breaking down silos between arbitrary products and establishing a single, unified associate experience.
